Layered Lavender Flower Water

 Lavender is a universal healer for your mind, body, and spirit. This

Layered Lavender Flower Water is relaxing and balancing for the skin,

and it makes a fantastic toner for all skin types, especially oily and

combination skin. You can also add it to your bath water for a tranquil

soak or put it in a spray bottle and spritz to cool down on a hot day. A little

spritz of lavender water can help ease a hot flash, soothe a sunburn, or

calm itchy skin, or you can use it as a linen spray right before climbing

into bed for a calming drift off into dreamland.

YIELDS: 16 ounces

2 cups distilled water

⁄ cup dried lavender flowers or 1 cup fresh flowers (stems

removed)

⁄ cup witch hazel

60 drops lavender essential oil

What you will need: glass or enamel pot, strainer (cheesecloth or tea

strainer), funnel jar or bottle with sprayer top (optional) to hold 16 ounces

1. To Make: Boil the water and pour over the lavender flowers. Steep for 20–

30 minutes. While the lavender is brewing, put the witch hazel into your

storage container and add essential oil. When the lavender brew is ready,

strain it into the bottle. Place the cap on and shake well to blend the

ingredients.

2. To Store: Store bottle in your refrigerator for up to 6 months.


3. To Use: Shake well before each use. Use as a facial toner or as an aromatic

body, hair, linen, or room spray.
